    ABOUT SAMHAIN
Samhain (pronounced SOW-en) is of Celtic origins and is the most important festival on the Celtic calendar. It is sadly misunderstood and misinterpreted as being evil in origin. It is quite the opposite actually! Samhain represents the Celtic New Year and the start of winter so it is a time for both new beginnings and endings. It is a time for change and to look to the future with optimism. In ancient times Samhain also represented and celebrated the Celtic Feast of the Dead, honoring deceased ancestors. The veil between the dimensions of this world and the other side is at it's thinnest on this night thus facilitating communication between the two worlds. This communication with ancestors was one way to honor and celebrate deceased loved ones. Today many rituals abound that are used to express gratitude towards those who have moved on before the celebrants. This same communication is what may have caused non pagans to believe the holiday was evil and through fear rather than knowledge Halloween evolved. This is a much written about topic and articles and websites abound on the web if you wish to explore it further.

      Have a Blessed Samhain!
